Our Principle Engineers

Don Jacobs is celebrating his 30th anniversary as a sound engineer and sound company owner in 2008!  He has worked with many fine musicians and performing artists, for charitable, religious, progressive causes, and for cultural and private events.  There have been concerts, rallies, religious services, weddings, birthdays, and meetings everywhere from backyards to national tours, Carnegie Hall to Lincoln Center.  Who could ask for more...  What a great time it has been!

Affectionately known as "Dr." Don, he is looking forward to another 30 years of the same thrills and chills.  He hopes you will allow In Concert Audio to be your innovative sound partner for your next event.  Cheers!

Serena Rockower's passion for excellence in live sound production shines in her tremendous work ethic and her positive, resourceful disposition.  A small town girl from northeast Ohio, Serena is guided by an entrepreneurial outlook and natural curiosity.  Fresh out of high school, she moved west to California to attend the University of California Santa Cruz, earning her BA in modern literary studies while studying sound reinforcement through studio recording and music theory. After college, she headed to New York to pursue her career as a live sound engineer.  Serena Rockower and Don Jacobs met during the summer of 2005 and immediately recognized their rapport, similar approach to business design and a focus on building partnership with clients.  Her initiative and dedication launched her into a two-year apprenticeship with Don, where she quickly began taking on events with increasing responsibility. Simultaneously, Serena built a broad base of freelance experience working with New York City venues and businesses in the live sound production industry.  After two years of mentoring and intensive hands-on experience in the field, Serena has come aboard as a business partner for In Concert Audio.

Beyond her work as an audio engineer, Serena also brings a background in stage management, event booking, community outreach, and fundraising for arts non-profits. Her recent work includes production services for: JCC of Manhattan, CMJ College Music Festival, Joe's Pub In the Park, Shakespere In The Park: Hair!, Bowery Poetry Club, Golem, The Whitney Museum, Saratoga Jazz Festival, Bryant Park Fashion Week, and Circuit Productions.

Testimonials

"I’ve been working with Don Jacobs and In Concert Audio (previously Midnight Express) for just under 10 years. We started collaborating when I ran the BAMcafe, BAM’s eclectic music venue. I have since worked with Don at many venues, including the Whitney Museum where he is the equipment and production services supplier to Whitney Live, the Museum’s Performing Arts program. Don and his associate Serena are reliable, efficient, timely, friendly, creative and a pleasure to work with. They either predict and avoid problems, or solve them creatively and elegantly. I have recommended Don and his company to many colleagues and friends who have all been as satisfied as I have. In this business, having a reliable production partner is an exceptional asset; I intend to continue my long-standing partnership with Don!"

Limor Tomer, Curator of Live Performances

In Concert Audio has provided great sound for over 60 events in the last four years here at the JCC, as well as at off-site locations such as Riverside Park and Symphony Space. The artists who perform for the JCC respect his sophisticated ear and touch. Don’s design consultation for improving our sound system in the JCC Theatre has also been invaluable."
